July 4th Hymn
On July 4th, my parents would invite friends to their home overlooking Lake Erie to could enjoy the powerful fireworks display hosted by the city of Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
As darkness fell, an even higher power source would be sought as Dad invited everyone to join in prayer seeking God’s mercy and blessings for our homeland. The prayers always included songs such as this one, penned by Dad and inspired by the spiritual “There Is a Balm in Gilead.”
