SENT

Trekkers enjoy the company of other trekkers.  So we invite the folks we meet on the trail to hike with us in the company of Jesus, the ultimate Trail Guide.

God promises we will reach the summit of all His promises.

  • “God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.  So we are not ashamed to invite stragglers on the trail to follow Jesus with us.”  (2 Timothy 1:7-8 paraphrased)
  • “This good news of the kingdom will go global until every ethnic group hears the truth, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:24 paraphrased)
Christ’s global call to trek with Him will accomplish its purpose!

In light of these promises, will I sit on my hands, or trust God’s promises to draw my neighbors and the nations to trek with Jesus Christ?

The Sent component of this site includes:

God calls us on our shared journey bolstered by —

  • Community.  Although we can be cranky at times, “Christ trains us to be like-minded, to love one another, and to strive together with one mind and purpose.”  (Phil.2:2 paraphrased)
  • Mutual encouragement.  “Let’s spur one another upward to heights of love and compassionate deeds, not giving up our weekly treks, as some are in the habit of doing, but always encouraging one another.”  (Hebrews 10:24-25 paraphrased)
  • God’s transformation. “For we are God’s master work.  Our bodies are being chiseled anew in Christ Jesus, so we can climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, till we find His dream.”  (Ephesians 2:10 paraphrased, with help from Oscar Hammerstein)

In light of these promises, will I insist on hiking solo, or will I seek the joy of group trekking?
